At least that's my best guess what this tree is. It volunteered in one of my accent plant pots something like 7-9 years ago. I didn't take it very seriously at first, but I did put some movement in the trunks. It sets little willow flowers in the spring if the previous years growth hardens off properly before winter.
This year I cut it back hard in August to try to get it to bud out lower on the trunk....and it did! I guess that's not so surprising for a willow. Anyway, here are some before and after shots from wiring it last week.

I think some of the wiring from the top is a bit severe. But, I think in the future this treatment will lead to better fine branching structure in the apex.
