Hello there everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely christmas and new year!

So i was on here a while ago with my poor struggling bonsais and I took all your advice on board now they've been living on my balcony since then! I must say they haven't lost any leaves since then but they haven't grown any either which obviously might be the weather.

I have had then for about 2 years now and im thinking its time to repot them, their roots are over going the soil, so im thinking i will do that feb or march but Im not sure ... what do you guys think?

thank you !!

Repot wouldn’t hurt into some less organic soil in the spring. It looks like they might not be getting tons of light on your balcony. Consider a supplemental LED floodlight if your balcony is shaded. I used one indoors with some success and they can be weatherproof.

Repot when the buds start swelling but before the leaves start to come out. That could be as early as late February in London. Here normally March.

Your trees are not showing good growth. This is most likely due to poor soil, but other factors could be involved (light and fertilizer come to mind). Repot everything in late winter or early spring into good-draining bonsai soil, give as much morning sun as you can and keep well-watered and most importantly fed. When you repot, check the roots for rot and prune them back only enough to stimulate growth in the new medium.
