After Christmas, my wife and I started tearing through our basement and decided what was getting sold, donated or trashed. After the purge, we started to organize our space and plan for the future. Yesterday we just finished our unfinished section that will be used for kitchen appliances, pantry, laundry and storage. Afterwards we started on my section...

My wife was kind enough to give me an indoor section for my creative endeavors, primarily brewing and bonsai. Storage shelves and a work table will hold my barrels, wine, beer, and whiskey. A work desk will be used for wiring, drawing, and wood carving. Finally some wall shelves will be used to hold pottery and display items. The space is very...very...very under construction, progress to follow!!!

Och...

Right now, I'm having a wee glass of Glengarry single malt, "peated and smoky".

I tasted very good Bourbons, or Irish rye "whiskeys", but to my mind, nothing to compare with real, single malt whisky from Scotland 😄

But it's all right, the best drink is the one you can share with friends.

I'm an explorer, PM me your address and I'll be glad to visit

I have tasted many things also, but I also prefer malt whiskeys. My go-to lately is Singleton. I drink peated whiskey when I am having a cigar once in a great while.

Another door went up for our eventual half bath, the work table was assembled in place, and I finally started cleaning/organizing my space.

I am envisioning that room as a creative space where I can wire/prune/pluck bonsai whenever it's too late or the weather sucks outside. Basically 99% of when I have time to work on trees 😆. I am limiting my repotting in this room, so it can stay relatively sanitary for myself and for the wine, beer, and spirits.

Congrats... agreeing with Judy... cleaning is a good purging. We too are in the process of redoing our basement for a more adult looking space. Love seeing it come together. As I am enjoy your process as well. Nice work so far!

My first project was to get pots ready for my trees getting an early repot. These trees are getting a jumpstart in the greenhouse in mid-February. Working down here last made me realize I need a trash can in my new workspace 😂

I hear ya. Dedicated work space is really nice. Saves a lot of time when everything is within arm's reach. It's amazing how much bonsai supplies and tools one can accumulate over time.

Molding is done, doors and trim are painted, lock on door is assembled and the room is almost done!!! All I need is some more shelving for all my goodies!
