Whole family of stoners actually, that’s right, we all like rocks. My mom and dad and the girls all hunted and helped.
First stop, Easter bunny goods in the forest, considerate bunny even stashed beers up there. 5B2A487E-E886-42FB-8070-C95E998ACBDD.jpeg

On to the stone hunt, a rock I found last fall and heaved out of the creek. Had to bring out the avalanche probe and shovel to find it... good hunt even though I more or less knew where it was. 510DD2F1-2B58-4E0B-B89A-4FC0CEEA8206.jpeg

Rocks are cool but damn heavy things, this is why we did it now of course, snow assist. I don’t know how much it weighs but I could not lift it off the ground. A grunt to get up out of the creek, no problem after that. At one point I looked back and was surprised to see my brakeman had jumped ship without saying anything, things got a bit interesting for a moment there...
The bottom of the hill is our driveway so onto the hitch to drag uphill again and mission accomplished!
It’s a nice rock, I’ll get some pics tomorrow. Totally the funnest rock hunt ever though!! Winter rocks. 4A1BDA3E-35FB-4FCC-8DC8-452AEEC1B7F3.jpeg613D70A6-2693-4081-B629-CD9E65650A78.jpegB3DA796D-F85D-4D47-A9D2-CFFB452C434C.jpegE08872B6-5879-4B19-8BDF-C8B0E8028F75.jpegB26B700D-75F6-4953-88C1-C77043001E3C.jpeg3F907A52-11AB-4B8C-9BB0-68E0DEDF53B4.jpeg

Now there’s a rock for the old “hide under the float bags” trick! Any plans for it? Next summer, maybe attach an avalanche beacon to the next one. Great job with the probe though.

Would have been more fun if you did not color the eggs :p Serious though looks like a good time was had by all!

Well...that surely was worth the effort!

Yeah, pretty cool isn’t it? Especially considering I found it within a ten minute walk of the front door! I’ve never noticed any particularly interesting stones at all in that creek before either, just rocks, I guess I should look closer. Here’s a better shot, quite a few features all around and I don’t know if this is the best orientation yet but this angle appears to provide the best view for now. 358CB649-0868-44C0-B872-AC77E58E32A9.jpegDE2E2980-8C9E-4024-BFFE-B658E16DA387.jpeg

Plans? You know, you’ve been to my yard! I’ll place it somewhere amid the chaos. Right up on the bench with something planted in the top hollow would be nice.

I like the way you and your family rolls.... Easter bunny stashed beers!!... and I was super glad to see you had clothes on when you climbed out of the creek... thank you!!

You’re welcome! The polar bear swim is a once a year event, I’m thinking I should invite smoke next year for the photo op!

Really good time, great day all around. In the morning before all this the Easter bunny came and dropped chocolate eggs out of a helicopter in the woods around the ski hill parking lot. I’ve never seen so many kids so excited before, total gong show when they dropped the rope and released them, awesome.
