Here is another bonsai from Yahoo! Auctions Japan that looks amazing. A sweet little azalea for $130...

No Malik,
He's pulling auctions off a Japanese site. If it was bought here for 130.00 I'd be beating down his door. ;)

This is a tree you bought?

I think I bought it in my dreams :)

Unfortunately you can't currently import trees from Japan without a LOT of hassles - and some case even hassles aren't enough. I post some of these photos because some people can't / don't feel comfortable browsing Japanese web sites - plus they are fun to share when it is a quiet day and there are not a lot of member photos popping up.

so what's with the giant pot and slab this tree is displayed in/on - is this a new trend? Kinda like thin ties are in fashion, then fat ties, then back to thin?

Bob - this photo was from the late 70's (fat ties and platform shoes baby!) That also explains the price. I figure if you calculate the cost now with inflation you are looking at around $2,800 or so. No charge for the fat tie and shoes though...
