In the last few weeks I have been asking questions about watering and soil mixes and such. Two months ago I put those things into practice and potted up a few tress. The exact date was 5-18-12. I figured if I was doing anything wrong they would have some yellow leaves by now and I figured the Texas Ebony was putting up with me because its been opening and closing its leaves every day. I have been using the chopstick method first with toothpicks then with bamboo skewers.

Well I was curious today about how my trees are doing under the surface and I decided to dig down in a couple of them and see. Well my willow leaf fig and Texas Ebony... White roots...

I figure this means I can start actually learning how to train these little guys now. Thanks very much!

Don't mess with em too much and love em to death. However, congrats on success so far! Let me just tell you that you will kill trees. Don't let that discourage you but do learn why and improve. That is what I have done. Make sure that you do the proper technique for each species at the correct time of year. It is definitely not one size fits all with that. I would post'em separately and ask before you do anything drastic.

I'm glad you're having success! You should post up some pics for us to follow along...

I will post them but they are just sticks in pots really just practice keeping them alive I will post them tomorrow! I guess that way when I grow something out of them I will have before and after..

I wont mess with them too much. I was very careful not to disturb the roots much when I did it. I only dug out enough soil mix to see the roots then covered them back up. I wont do anything except at the time of year recommended.

Good job! First step is learning proper care that will drive growth so you have something to work with... If you ever make it my look me up!
