I have some questions about accent plants I have not been able to find concrete answers to.

1. Do you need to use dwarf varieties of plants or do regular plants conform to pot culture like trees do?

2. What kind of soil do you use? Bonsai soil, fines from bonsai soil, dirt?

3. I have 3 plants in my garden I would like to use - Sedum Angelina, mondo grass and ghost fern. Can I just take a division from these (in spring I assume)? Do I bare root them?

4. These 3 all grow strongly and get bigger or spread each year. In a short time it seems they would outgrow a small pot even though I have read it takes 2-3 years in a pot for an accent to look right. Do you divide and repot these type plants every couple of years?

I know this is a lot of questions, is there a website that has accent planting basics information addressing these items?

Thanks...

You probably could have answered your own questions by just remembering one word: Google.

But anyway, I simply entered "Kusamono" and got (among MANY others):

and finally, THE book in English: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001N0EN4A

Thanks I have been googling "bonsai accent plants" etc... but not kusomono.

Brain cramp...nevermind
