And actually, it is going to be in a show in 2 weeks . I rewired it last weekend and the moss looks great, now I just need to figure out some kind of accent. I have never done this before.

So I am making some accents to see how it goes and so I have something to choose from.
I bought a couple little things and I need to repot them into accent pots.

What do people normally use for soil for accent plants?
Do people use regular potting soil or very very small sifted bonsai soil?

Thanks in advance for the kelp ;)

Either, depending on the planting. In your specific situation I'd probably try to disturb the roots of whatever you're planting as little as possible, and backfill with whatever soil you have that's closest to what it's currently growing in.
