So, I’m being gifted a nursery stock Acer Arakawa next month. Should I be this excited? I can’t wait to see it even though it will be another Acer that will have to grow wild for a few years before I can even start trying to bonsaI it.

Still, big soil eating grin.

Does anyone have some that are in progress? I’d love to see some inspiring transformations.

I have some in progress
There is no transformation as I spent with 1 year old grafts, that I let grow for 2 years and am layering. Just little sticks in the wind right now.

Little sticks patiently growing into a beautiful tree.

I no longer have one. They are beautiful. A couple images I saved over the years of other peoples 'Arakawa'.

'Arakawa' - if I remember correctly, owned by Ed van der Reek, though this one could belong to a BNut, maybe Brian van Fleet, I archived this photo a long time ago.

I've got 2 Arakawa and a Seiryu headed my way. Am I supposed to squee now? Is it polite to do in mixed company? I feel like so much is happening, I just can't keep up.

Please stay tune for an upcoming International Bonsai magazine article featuring this maple.

I just separated an air layer for future propagation but it will be a while before I will have anything ready.
