Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with this particular cultivar? Will it grow on its own roots? Does the foliage shrink when grown as bonsai? Can it be miniaturized? Any info would be much appreciated. It’s a beautiful tree.

The recent thread on rooting Japanese maples said cuttings and layers failed.
Check the thread out.

I have one that I repotted this year and did some bending on to give the trunk some movement. I’m planning to try to layer it in the spring. That will be my first attempt at layering this particular cultivar, so no idea yet if it will be successful or not.

The most susceptible-to-Pseudomonas plant I know of.
Beautiful but dead-y.

I’m half tempted to go ahead and buy the tree since it’s not too expensive and try in the spring also.
