Hello all,
I've been lurking for quite a while and finally got organized enough to post pictures of a couple trees. Here is a Katsura JM that I purchased at MABS years ago. It had been neglected for years but is finally starting to look good. Now I think I need to start the refinement process and develop some twiggyness.

The one problem with this tree is the apex. It is fat and has to large scars since I lost the original apex a couple winters ago. I welcome any suggestions. I hope to take the tree to a workshop with Chase Rosade in May.

The first picture is about 2005 or so.

Thanks,

Chris

It looks like great material to me Chris :) I'll let some of the more experienced members of the forum give you suggestions though.

excellent material!!! very nice looking tree.... I think you are correct ... time for some refinement work... the wide crown is very nice... domed rounded crowns look great on deciduous trees :) :)

Thanks guys. The rounded crown was not by design but sheer luck due to my indecision about the apex. I guess I will leave it as it is for now :D.

That should be too hard to carve out, nice tree and I like the base.
