Acer palmatum 'nonid 4'

This one is from seeds gathered from a roadside plantation, probably a dissectum atropurpureum.

It's got fine red twigs and smallish leaves:

It should be in a shallower, wider pot, and more to the left, but it's still in training.

The top probably needs to be reduced.

And I know that we are not supposed to do that the year of repotting, but I might defoliate it all, except the first branch on the left so it thickens a bit. I put some slow-release fertilizer, so I think it's possible if the tree is thriving...

I really like that new pot, too!!

But i like the SHAPE of the last pot, slightly more.
