This is a quick thread to document a collected Acer rubrum. I collected this tree over a year ago and want to see what I can do with it. I love the color, but hate the internode length. This is definitely a practice tree for me, but I'm documenting the progress (or lack thereof) on here.

It’s only going to get worse as the year progresses! I haven many more to put up.

For the record, I work a crazy shift work schedule, so I can usually only get time to post all at once. Makes watering a real challenge in the summer as well

And it’s good to see some A. rubrum
I have a few little ones I collected last year.
nothing much to look at yet, but hopefully some can develop into cool trees.

Nice
That should be walking up soon.
I miss my maples.
there are a couple left, but down here they have already flushed out 5 or 6 long new nodes

Quite crappy, but I can’t bring myself to discard it just yet. Maybe when I run out of room it’ll be on the top of the cull list

One of those you just plant in the yard and check up on when you mow.
5 yrs. Later….. revisit.

It’s still young.
I would let it grow a bit and heal that chop before thinking about giving up. Maybe it just wants to be a bit bigger.
