"Ad hoc" penjing

Two years ago, after I was gifted a chinese elm (my first bonsai), I bought my first mallsai. It was a zantoxilum piperitum, and unfortunatly I was not educated enough to know what characterisitcs to look for and what to avoid. And so I bought this:

Half of the trunk was off, and had no movement.
I let it grow, but the original faults remained ( the trunk scar was healing but very slowly):

A month ago (trying to bend it) I damaged the right side of the tree.
I was ready to give up on it, but I finally decided to give it a chance as a penjing, using only the right branch:

I guess it's better than composting it.....

Adding a rock can turn many flaws into assets! Nice work.
