Additional holes in a pot?

I just bought a relatively big bonsai pot (over 50cm), but it has just 1 central hole and then the bottom is so uneven that I can guarantee root rotting because of all the water that would stay there. Is it safe to make wholes in those 4 corners without breaking it?

I've used masonry bits to drill extra drainage holes into pots. I've had better success with some than others. If you do decide to drill, I've found soaking the pots overnight helps a bit on tear out. Access to a drill press makes it much easier. Be sure to take your time and let the bit do the work, you don't want to put much pressure on it at all, and keep a little water on hand to cool the bit and the pot as you're going to generate a lot of heat.

Unless you knew the state of the pot when you purchased it I would try to get your money back. It is possible to drill it but it is also possible that it will just break when you try.

I was researching it and found out the same thing. Diamond bits. I'd get some these days and try to make those holes! Thanks for the advices!

Have this in a smaller size, made many holes, no problems. Also have purchased non-bonsai pots from Salvation Army, also drilled holes in them. Diamonds ? are a bonsai fools friend too.
