I grew this Jacaranda tree from a seed. Its about a year old now and about a meter long. I keep it indoor year log because it is fairly cold where I live, I water it when one centimeter of the soil is dry and recently got a grow light. How do you guys think I am doing so far? Any advice would be appreciated.

I also have a few question about my tree:
- How much should I use the grow light? I don't have a great place where it can get a lot of light. Could I damage it by keeping it under the grow light for too long?
- Some leaves have started becoming dark. I'm not sure what causes this? Could this be because it is not getting enough light?
- I was told to not prune it for the first year. When should I start pruning and how much should I prune?

Thanks

I think you are doing pretty well. I have one too that I planted from seed last summer and I can tell you yours looks a lot better than mine. I have growth but also leaves shedding. I've been keeping it by a northeast facing window with grow lights. Trunk is still super thin (I put some bends on the trunk with wire).

As for pruning, let the top continue to grow to thicken the trunk and you can start pruning some of the lower branches to start creating ramification if they have achieved the desired thickness.16527199343956575334859715492711.jpg
