I've had this ficus for about 3 years now. It's been in the pot it's in for 2 and very pot bound and needing a repot. I was thinking of doing something drastic and doing a trunk chop to the first main branch. It's been growing so a-typically that I'd like to get back budding lower.

Any thoughts? It's been growing very profusely over the past few weeks and I know very healthy. I just wish I had more leafing down lower.

nice cut

might want to cut above bottom limb, remove next two, and then stick everything including the big top into some soil
Well I got quite a few other ficus projects already in the works and already finished up working on a few other trees. Too lazy to dig it out of the trash and plant it. Lol

Do I need to put cut paste on the trunk chop? I was reading mixed things. I know ficus normally produce that white gunk to protect it, just wasn't sure.

i hear you on the projects - if the larger top section rooted it might be nicer than what weve been left with since the hardcut

not positive on technicality of wounds for these...most my cuts i use aquaphor or eucerin ointment on, i might have for mine but dont remeber
