A property owner here in town has a Cork Bark elm on his property that he want to remove. It is pretty big with a 10" or so trunk base. Do these air layer at all well do you know? I was thinking about going up into the branches a selecting one-three that would be good candidates and trying it. Help appreciated. Thanks, Peter

I've never had a problem air layering any kind of elm. They are as easy as they come.

Hmmm. Do I need to get on a branch where the bark has not corked yet or can I air layer where the bark is corked as long as I do it correctly?

They layer well. Probably a winged elm or cedar elm though. Cork barks aren’t native and I have never seen one in a nursery.

I know they aren't native to my part of the country. I'll get pictures and post them.
