Hey guys. Its been along time since I posted but I'm having an issue that I hope you can help with. I'm attempting an airlsyer on an a. Palmatum Ibo nishiki. It was going along fine and all of a sudden the leaves started to droop. I'm thinking that the moss around the layering site has been too damp and it is rotting. Are there any other possibilities to look for or any remedies anybody can suggest?

I don't use moss to air-layer for just that reason. I've had much better luck using akadama or turface as a layering medium. I cut a plastic pot to fit around the layer site and fill it with the soil. Much easier to monitor both moisture and root development.

yeah. Good advice. I went with moss cause sometimes I can't check as often as I'd like. Need to use a medium somewhere between turface and sphagnum. If it fails ill just use normal bonsai soil
