So, today I checked in on an Arakawa air layer I made earlier in the summer. Popped off the aluminum foil and could see quite a few roots had formed. In total, I made 5 layers off of two larger Arakawa trees. Started them all with spagnum moss. I checked in on them early on and saw most were callusing over. I cut them deeper and rewrapped them. I remade 3 with spagnum and two with perlite. One spagnum failed. So far, the spagnum ones have produced more roots, but this may be due to a loss of some perlite out of the others while watering. Anyway, here is the little guy I removed today. I like the movement this one has to start out. Could be interesting down the road. Air layering is fun stuff .
