Air layering Japanese red pine

Hello, I would like to air layer a Japanese red pine and was wondering if anyone had any pointers. I do remember reading some where that when air layering pines one should wait a little longer ( first part of June) in the growing season before starting. Any advice from someone who has experience with pines?

Hi Dave!

I have not layered a pine (yet) but the general concensus seems to be simple--a pond basket filled with good inorganic soils, 3% IBA rooting hormone (Hormex 30) and some time.
