I did a workshop ran by my local bonsai club. We made American Elm Forests. Excited to give this a shot!

The trees were volunteers from seed that grew in one of our members' yard for a couple years before he potted them up for the purpose of this workshop.

He trimmed them while they grew, but no wire.

👍 Check out the forest contest -- if memory serves, there's no problem with joining now -- it's a good place to share a progression thread 🙂

Nice! American Elm trees, especially at the size of your forest, grow rapidly with plenty of water. And the forest can be kept a manageable size with regular pruning. Where I live the American Elms I have are in full sun all the time and full outdoors all year long. I think they’ll grow well even in the shallow pot you have….very adventurous roots!
