@Mellow Mullet ,
I just read this thread for the first time. Great progression!!
Gives me hope that I can achieve something with a few zelkovas I have in a few years!
Just a question. I see from the first post to now, you've upped your taste in beer! Are you still rockin' the PBR?

Yes! PBR is my yard beer. It is just a good tasting all around beer. I occasionally buy others if they are on sale. I get Corona this time of year because I have a key lime tree in the yard that is loaded.

Update on the Hornbeam:

It got a well overdue repot this spring and grew like crazy, it has already been trimmed once and it is ready for another. I know it is controversial, but I have been using Walther Pall's hedging method on it for a while and I think it has paid off.

Before the Work:

After hedge-trimming (forgot to take some pictures), I decided to defoliate and see how it was shaping up. It is a fairly large tree, there were exactly 4,183 leaves on it.

After defoliation:

The ramification is really coming along but needed some thinning.
