American Elms??

I have these growing all over my property. Can someone please confirm these are American Elms?? And if not what are they??

It is almost impossible to ID seedlings. Leaf size and shape and toothiness varies in seedlings from the adult plant.

If I had to guess, however, I'd say these were yellow birch, Betula alleghaniensis. They grow in your area. But they're oo young to say.

Whatever, I'm almost certain it is not American elm. It has double serration on he edges.

Looks a bit like slippery elm, ulmus rubra.

I don't think they're American elm. AE has leaves with asymmetrical bottoms (near the shoot). Slipppery elm, possibly Siberian Elm (an extremely common introduced species that makes unstable bonsai)

Here's a picture of the stump I collected near the seedlings. Does this narrow it down any? Thanks for all the responses so far.
