American hornbeam collection and aftercare

looks like where I grew up in NH is out of their range but where I am now in MA is just inside their range... Probably why I haven't learned to spot them... I will be looking now! Seems like stream and swamp edges are the place to look, has that been your experience Jacob?

The first ones I found in the woods on the edge of the Connecticut River, the second patch is on a trendline between two fields. Both areas are wet.

they love water. I've found 2 large patches in Maine over the years. Very sparse species up this way, but they are out there
