Hello all,

I have this american hornbeam that I got in a raffle.
Just wondering if I can get advice on styling.

Was considering a mother daughter with the two trunks.
The main trunk is about 1.5inches thick, and the secondaty trunk/brank is about 0.5inch.

Thanks.

Looks like a fun project.

In my experience with hornbeam, major work is best done in early spring. So for now don't do anything major.

That second truck is pretty straight. I would hope for a back bud further down and regrow from there. You get movement ant tapor that way.

Wouldn't you leave the bottom branch as a sacrificial branch to help thicken the trunk for now
