Ready to be cut back. See all those wonderful shoots at the base? Cuttin down to about 1.5 inches tall this time.

Terra cotta was too soft for this. It has broken the plate up all over the place.The trees are finally larger than the holes in the plate.

Don't know. Will let you know soon though. Have to dig it up, it has escaped thru the colander and is well established in the ground. I made a collar and added more soil as the trunks began to layer above the plate to keep the roots from drying out. The trunks in a couple places are now just touching and probably next year with a cut back will start to merge together. Then I will need to begin to think if I want to make a single trunk tree or work this into a five tree clump?????

I see no reason why it wouldn't. Anything that causes the tree to layer itself will work. Just so it doesn't deteriorate before it does the job.

The guys around here use scrap plexiglass plates.
