Got another Suthin. This one was on ebay if you've been watching then you saw it. I think it's potted too high for my personal taste. I will ponder it for awhile. I dislike the way it's wired in also. It may grow on me- time will tell.IMG_8954.JPGIMG_8955.JPGIMG_8956.JPGIMG_8957.JPGIMG_8958.JPG
My cat accent is on the wrong side :)
This one was styled by Suthin a few years ago and has been in a private collection since then.

Gorgeous little tree, but IMO it's potted just right. It's got nice feet.

I will study it. I learn something new with every tree.

Great little tree. I also do not think that the tree is planted too high. There is a little instability in the base, but I think this comes from the taper of the pot. A straight sided pot, maybe just a tad deeper, will add stability.
Thank you - that is helpful. Something seemed not quite unified but I couldn't determine what it was. It will likely stay in this pot until next spring. I will not make choices until then for sure. No rush. Also I have never owned a rectangle pot so it is something new to my eyes. I mean I have soft corner and rounded edge pots but nothing with full square edges. Lol
It will be fun to examine it.

I like it!

Is there wire imbedded in the trunk?
No but I can see why you would think that.
They have let the wire bite in deeply to hold the curves. I will try to get a good close up so you can see.IMG_8965.JPGIMG_3297.JPGIMG_3298.JPG
They do leave the wire on these as long as possible intentionally because they heal so quickly. It is intentional damage to create an aged appearance.

I should have waited like 3 more days to repot because I bought this one too. Oooweee it sure is pretty and would match the bark real nice.
Maybe spring. IMG_9039.JPGIMG_9041.JPG

Defoliation happened today.
It was grown in real thick. This will allow some sun to get in the interior of the plant.
I did end up trimming after taking these photos.13AC3C77-97F6-4EBF-BF63-44C867B657D2.jpeg91FEAB1B-8813-44BD-8626-8EABEEF9D4AA.jpeg

The good news is I will have a fantastic update in a couple of weeks. Tons of buds are pushing out right now.
I can’t wait to see it myself.
I want to keep the growth tight on this one and I went after it hard.
I was truly unafraid until I was done then I almost cried. But- the outcome is going to be magnificent.
