Adair.

I can't get over the fact it's not you in a thong!

And the dead leaves,...

But the carving looks really nice!

Thanks for sharing!
However disappointing it may have been for me!

I looked again big.....
It is very nice!

What type of tree?

Ume. Pink blossoms.

Trust me, I wouldn't be a pretty sight in a thong.

Ume leaves are notoriously ugly. Which is why these trees are "back of the bench" trees until they start to bloom! Then, they are spectacular! For about 2 weeks.

Adair,
How do you treat/preserve the dead wood. I did a little carving on my fat, old ume and the wood was "punky" pretty quickly.
Thanks, Lynn

Gotta scoop the punky wood out. The remaining hard wood should be very persistent, and will harden more when exposed.

Curly leaves in fall = blooms in winter. I like the tree, but not sure I can see where you're taking this design.

Let me know when you get tired of that pot...

Nice tree, nicer car, hehe. Whenever I see one of these on the road I am always surprised when it zips away so quietly!

Hard to see what's going on with the branches with the leaves on. Hope to see a pic in flower! Thanks for sharing.

And the pot? I'm probably wrong but, Shuho?

Brian,

This bad boy is a stump. It will take quite a while before it looks like anything. Just playing around with the carving, too.

However... When it's in bloom... None of any of that matters!

Yea I found that out when I did my buttonwood this year. It turned out ok, but I think him carving hundreds of trees have def helped him with his vision and technique
