Picked up this bunch of annealed copper wire from one of the auction sites. Paid $80 for the lot. From what I can tell it was a good deal (if it’s not please tell me). Checked his website and it was priced just as well. Adamsbonsai.com

Thought this might be useful to those looking to graduate from aluminum on there conifers. 👍🏻

I received the same bunch for $70.50 on March 16, 2018, sounds about right I believe there prices fluctuate a bit with copper prices.

Your probably right. I’ve seen the same amount for over 100 also. If you go the above link, it’s listed at $58 I believe.

Hey @moke . I put together my own slab using the same material you used for your elm forest. Didn’t come out as good as yours but I like it. I’ll be re-doing a boxwood forest I’ve got come spring. Thanks for the inspiration! 2576AA73-BC1F-4011-84D3-29A99A2F2B3B.jpeg

Sweet. I thought so, but I’ve moved on from Aluminum for conifers and am buying copper for the first time. Excited to wire out a few collected englemann and doug fir this spring.

here’s the site. http://adamsbonsai.com/adamsbonsai2019dec28_008.htm

When getting into bigger sizes may not be so enthusiastic unless built like Arnold;). Personally can barely use 6mm

What material did you use? Looks amazing!

QUIKRETE® Vinyl Concrete Patcher (No. 1133) is a multi-purpose concrete repair material with strong adhesive properties. Trowels to a feather edge of 1/16" (1.6 mm). Made of a special blend of exterior grade vinyl resin, fine sand, and portland cement. Just add water.

Available in gray and white

For the pigment I went to a local concrete supply company. They had many colors to chose from. It’s a powder and a little goes a long ways, Here’s the link to the manufacturer of the pigment.

yeah, mostly what @moke said. I used the same material, but mixed in some of Quikretes concrete dyes at mixing stage. I bought, black, red, and brown.

I used expanded metal lathe to creat an initial form work, and did several stages of concrete. 1 stage to coat the lathe, 1 stage to get some more texture shape and dimension, and one more for final texturing and shape. To get the final texture, I used a combination of metal knives and tools then did a paint brush texture, and as it was drying, I would spray the entire piece with a spray bottle to expose and sandy bits in the mix and rough the whole thing up.

the idea was inspired by a slab Moke poured. Mine came out considerably different, but I wouldn’t have used this material otherwise!
