I just did one today from home depot and was having a hard time deciding the new leader from the 3 possible ones. Each one has its pros and cons. 2 of the three will wok with determining the front side of the tree but if I cut off the 3rd one which doesn't work with the front of the tree, it still leaves me with 2 trunks.

will it work with twin trunk style?

also meant to ask those in the know if it can take trunk carving or jin/shari? I'm thinking to counter reverse taper with that.

There is no twin trunk in this tree. The trunks on a twin must start much lower on the trunk. You have a tree with several branches that may make a fair broom(ish) style tree.

Thanks JKL. You're right. I didn't mean twin trunks. I meant 2 leaders if there can be such a thing. I now see the broom style will allow such multiple leader design. . . thanks!

Right now I have it in the shade, not sure how fast I should move it toward full sun.
