Another Hornbeam

Went hunting today and found this beast, it’s probably 8-10 inch base. Going tomorrow for more, starting to get the fever now. Nothing like being in the woods in peace, just me and hopefully future bonsai. Now I need to learn how to make pots, but that’s coming soon.

It looked better, but the heat and caterpillars have beat this tree up. Leaving the long suckers to try grafting next year.

Thanks, I built it last fall to put stuff in for the winter. This spring I took all the plastic down and added shade, didn’t help much with the heat. It’s 40%, if have more summers like this i may have to invest in a watering system.

Update on this one, growing like crazy and this one has quite a few thread grafts.
