Another plant in bonsai?

Hiya,
This is my first bonsai, so I don‘t really know a lot.
What is the small plant that is growing in my bonsai?
Is it a baby shoot of another bonsai? A different plant? Should a cut it out, any help would be appreciated.

Your soil is looking a bit rough, how long has it been in that pot?

Oh ok, I‘ll pull it out then. Well, it‘s been in that pot since I‘ve bought it, which was around the start of the year?

See how the soil has washed away on the left corners? That means there is less room for the roots to grow and strengthen the tree. I don't know that particular species well, but if you search "ficus repot" you should find some good info.
