Dug this from a wall at a business. Asked if they wanted it removed and presto, in my truck. It is rather a large bush, but I knocked it back to a stump, hauled it home and found this large bonsai pot I bought for a different tree before I killed it.

This tree is currently 9 inches across at the soil and stands 16 inches tall. Just have to wait now. many fiberous roots close to the trunk and in a nice pad that was shallow. This should be a no brainer.

looks like two people dancing

nice find AK

Did some work on the pyracantha today. Sick as a dog, nose dripping all day long. Can't stand to be cooped up in the house any longer.

Carved some rough spots, kept a few leaders on the left trunk. Don't know which one will keep so I left choices. Pruned it back and wired what was left.

Savage bastards. Many more throrns than my others.

Ready for another year of growth.

A no brainer, sounds like the tree for me ! Great looking start and it bushed out well, will it get the berries this year? I wanted to get a pyracantha but I've never seen them anywhere except twigs in Bonsai nurseries, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Gotta love the fire thorns!!

Nice tree .I aquired one as well from a local park where a drunk driver drove through a hedge of them. Park service was ripping out the damaged ones and replacing with smaller ones the origionals were planted in 1951.I drove up and asked if I could help dig one out to keep and they handed me a shovel man that was a great day and my arms and hands were healing for 3 weeks after lol.I have a vid of it on my youtube site.

Sorry Smoke, but that tree bites...

It does look like two people dancing: Maybe you could call it Fred and Ginger, if for no other reason than it will cause today's bonsai nuts to wonder who you are talking about.

Today to get anyone to wonder.. I would have to call it Fred and Sam.

I think this is going to be a really nice tree in a couple years. It's starting to pop out all over.

are cotoneasters treated the same way as pyracantha? I might be able to collect one.

Much of the bottom branches are half inch now. They are mostly formed and as I work on the middle portions, one can see the sacrifice tops of the two tops growing. The left one which will be taller is about 8 feet tall. The leader is about 5/8 inch across. It will stay untill Spring next year when it will be chopped just before bud break. The the tops can be grown out and the bottom refined.

do you think its ok to airlayer one at this time of the year? i have a realy old one that I cut back and it starting to grow and I would
to airlayer it.

Still working on branch structure. When I get that done I can work on styling the canopy, but its getting there. It will be two years next month since it was dug from the building. The main trunk on the left is going to be carved this weekend. I carved all the stubs last time but this trunk is ready for the next phase. When I have a fast grower like this, I leave all the wire long so I can just train anything that I wish to be longer when it grows. Saves a bunch of time. Photo's are so two dimensional.
