I am new here but just wanted to say that I really look forward to your posts showing your trees and providing us with information as to how you got them to where they are.

I have one myself Steve...but when I see Sam's I laugh and think...I have a twig of a branch. But...still a bougie. Sam has amazing bonsai...it would pay to do a search of his posts. Amazing bougainvilleas...he has.

Once again stunning my friend, thank you for sharing ;) Are these also part of the many "collected" specimens you have?

Grimmy

Your back yard is a place I could get lost in...and hope to never be found!

I sometimes forget you do work on things other than Bougainvilleas. Since I tend to have tunnel vision and see only Bougies for the most part if they are around. But, I did go back as I suggested a poster do and look at threads you shared. You do amazing work...you do not let the fact there is no material to you easily purchase hold you back...it actually has inspired you to go out and find some amazing material. Thank you for taking the time and sharing once more of your works. You have an artistic eye for bonsai for turning raw materials into wonders to look upon.

My neighbor has a mock orange hedge that he may be pulling out soon. If he was to give me a stump would it be hard to grow? How would you recommend I go about transplanting a mock orange stump? Thank you.

hello maui

mock orange are usually easy to grow. cut back, plant, water, keep in partial shade out of strong wind. within a month or so U should see new growth popping.

good luck, sam

Do you have a particular area you search for your materials to turn into bonsai? For you seem to have an eye for what you see the tree can be prior to collection.

I would venture to say it would be anywhere on the Island, taking into account the 12 months a year growing season ....

I was curious. How old do you think the Chinese elm is and could you tell us a little about its history. Its always interesting hearing about your trees previous lives.
