George,

we live in modern times -

Pit firing part 1 runs into part 2 automatically.

However I suggest you first learn to make simple pinch pots.
Test fire on those.
These early test pieces even when well fired will be soft.
You should hit between 750 to 850 deg.C

Now do you know how to find clay, or are you buying ?

Clay for fast firing has to be grogged.
We can use 50 % grog to 50% plastic earthenware clay.
The grog is sifted brick at 0.5 to 1.0 mm.

This allows the clay to dry rapidly and fire rapidly.

When you can do this we can chat again.
Please read up what you can.

Happy to help,
Anthony

Sorry I just saw this now.
Are they cheaper by the dozen and how quick can I get you to make them?
Seriously, that homemade pot is beautiful and I would not mind having a dozen or so for training pots.
good work all around. love the vids too.

Sorcerer, the "glue" is called SLIP and it can be almost as contentious as our soil discussions :) It's watered down claybody that's being used. The contentious part is additions to the basic slip. I use only the claybody and water but there are a lot of "secrete" recipes out there. Sodium silicate, vinegar, coke, syrup all sorts of things. And we thought we had the monopoly on "discussions"
K. does good work!

I used to hide the iron under hotels.

This should be a discussion with less opinions here...at least!
Unless people REALLY love adding there opinion on things they know nothing about!

What makes a rectangle, (assuming this is what people covet/ hand made not wheel thrown....)
What makes it harder than the other?

Dude makes it look easy!

If you hang around enough bonsai potters, you get a running understanding of how it's done and why really good handmade pots are expensive...

Nick's first and second slab built pots. Both are glazed and in use.
He was about 18. He is 19 now.

How difficult do you think it is to do now?
Good Day
Anthony
