I bought this tree at a local nursery and it didn’t have a tag on it. I took it out of the nursery plastic pot, trimmed a TON and put it in a bonsai pot. It looks like a common tree used in Bonsai so I Made an account Here hoping someone could help me out. I’m a noob to bonsai but always been interested and excited to learn and practice more on the art. For this tree I just did a little pruning to see the trunk more. Going continue to clean and cut a little every now and then. I’ll wire next month before growing season. I think that’s the plan anyway!

I think it is a spruce, probably a Picea glauca dwarf cultivar like Blue Planet. The scale is hard to judge. It doesn't look like Birdnest to me. Growth habit is different. Birdnest opens out a bit in the center and branches radiate outward looking like an actual nest.
It is a lovely plant and being a dwarf it is an instant bonsai.
How large is it?

That is a nice tree!

I’d be proud to have it!

Having said that... I think, we as a community need to join together, RIIISE up, and say, “NO MORE to missing/incorrect nursery labels!”

“They’ve got the guns, but we’ve got the numbers”

🤣🤣🤣
