Years back when I first started getting interested in bonsai I got some Boabab seeds and got them to germinate. Had no idea what to do with them and they have just been growing in small pots to keep them from getting too big. Does anyone here grow them? Looking for any info on them to start moving them into a bonsai setting. I probably need to give them a bigger pot to live in so they can start thickening up. I’ve been trying to keep them below 3’.

I have two of them they are beautiful trees , my advice is choose the height you want for future cut back also don't let the side branches get to long so you can get ramification closer to the base. definitely they need bigger pots to thicken up also keep them in the hottest place your in your home.

Wow! Yours looks awesome. That’s the advice I need. I’ve just been letting it grow and haven’t been thinking about real tight ramification on the branches. I’ve also been keeping them with everything else on the northwest side of the house (Bach yard) and they only get about 5-6 hours of good sun a day. It will be easy to move them to the south side of the house where they will get full sun all day. Once they go dormant come winter I can trim them back real good and start working on ramification come spring. Thanks.

Yours looks real short. What is it, maybe about 8-10” tall? Mine will be a bit taller. Hopefully I can get some good back bulbs to grow. I was thinking a trunk with a flat top of foliage, but I like the way yours has more vertical branching. You’ve given me a good model to follow.
