Anyone got Chinese antique pots, scrolls, etc?

If you watch the Antiques Roadshow on PBS, this is evident as many trinkets have some pretty high values, as told due to the market in Asia.

being as the family business is antiques and has been for several generations... I can tell you that its very cyclical.... so if you got em... and they have value sell em ... you never know when the bottom will fall out... and it eventually will

I remember when they built the three gorges dam and flooded villages up and down the yangtze river, seeing whole temples up for sale...
Was very sad...

I agree. Japanese antiques lost their value after their bubble burst in the 90's.

Here's a Qing( late)Dynasty pot (1614-1911) that I bought back in '81 from a registered International Soc Appraisers back east....a couple of house payments at the time. I made a inner-liner of cone 12 clay and on rare occasions had it planted and placed inside the Qing pot in shows back east. Its about 16-1/2 x 15-1/2. NFS. The other figures were 'junk' from my mom's house along with the mud my men..

I have this pot that I inherited when my father passed away 25 years ago, my mother uses it, but I was thinking of drilling some holes in the bottom and turning it into a bonsai pot one day, however it weighs about 40 pounds empty. I can't imagine how much it would weigh with a tree and soil in there. I think she said they bought it back in 1981 for $750.

So Maple, it appears large enough to use as a water pot. And frankly it would not work well as a bonsai pot.
