They've been selling these for a little more than four years.

I like the fact that you can open the hinge for ease of cleaning and sharpening. I don't like the fact that they are asymmetrical, and will only fit in your hand in one orientation. When I am reaching for my scissors, I would not like that I would have to flip them around 50% of the time in order to grasp them.

It is hard for me to comment on these "art" products, because I am always someone who prioritizes function over form when it comes to tools. For example, I would not get any use out of a bamboo box, nor would I care that it came with a certificate. But if it makes people happy, go for it!

I concur. To start with I was inclined to think about really cool tools. Now all I care about is getting solid, sturdy tools that can hold an edge over time.
My thoughts are now: save the extra $ for trees! 😎
