Are all named varieties of picea pungens grafted? I heard or read somewhere that all are grafted and most are grafted onto p. abies rootstock. Can anybody confirm or refute this? (I have seen some ugly grafts on blue spruce at big box retailers.)
Reason being is I have an eye on a large "globosa" (from Iseli) with a massive trunk but I can't see down into the root ball very far and I am reluctant to drop a lot of coin if I am going to have to deal with a big ugly graft.

As to question in the title, all CBS are not grafted, thus there is a lot of variation in there color. As to the question in the post, yes, cultivars (varieties) like "globosa" are grafted. As to the rootstock, it varies from grower to grower.
