Because there aren’t any pine trees dropping cones with seeds.

Are there pines growing in the valley? There are juniper of many varieties growing all around the Rogue Valley, but none of them will self-propagate there or in the mountains surrounding the valley. Yet a hundred miles east there are thousands of acres of Western Juniper.
The climate on this side of the Cascades disallows propagation. A little too warm and fuzzy in the winters. Could be the summer heat of the California valleys prohibits the growth of any sprouted seeds.

Theyre All over the place in the valley, but they were all planted.

I pulled a short cone off of a short needle pine that was already mostly open, and i found 7 or 8 seeds that had the embryo intact. Just for giggles I'm going to try germinating them, but I'm not expecting any to germinate lol

So yesterday i was walking down a creek bed next ro5 my house and i found this little pine sapling. Its hard to tell if the sapling came from the nearest pine tree or if it was from pine clippings that were dumped all around the bank. Just for giggles it took some pictures of the nearest pine tree
