New to the forum. Looking to get back into bonsai after several years off. Hoping the group can assist with my comeback.
So I have this collected ashe juniper that's been sitting in a pot for a couple years. I think it's pretty much a literati candidate. I'm struggling to decide which side to cut back for deadwood. The left or right.(1st pic) The left side has less vigorous growth, but seems to be the best side to keep for the foliage, I think. I would appreciate any opinions on the preferred side to keep...or any other advice as to style director. I have posted several other pics as well. Thanks.

Personally favor L side for branch structure. However do not know how would react to loss of most of foliage mass:confused:.

I'm in Dallas. Cold currently, but hardy Zone 8 temps on the way. With regards to foliage removal, I was going to do in stages & not all at once. So I'd cut & wire the left side, begin a little carving for deadwood, & only slightly trim the right. I don't know that I would even remove that side of the tree until next summer, so that I can see if any new growth will come to the left side. The way the tree had grown naturally, it's really hard to determine any other direction other than literati, & cutting back one side of the main fork for shari & Jin. Maybe a cascade or windswept, but I'm struggling to see where to begin with that direction.
