Some photos from this year. Overall quality quite high. Someone else can photograph everything. These were my faves:

Thanks for sharing. Very nice trees. I recognize a few trees from b-nutters representing, nice work fellas. I really like the last pine. Is it ponderosa?

I took pics of every tree (inside and out) on display. I'll try to get some posted up. Hate I didn't get to see/speak to you today @Owen Reich.

Awesome elm! Some interesting and unusual displays, how did the mirror display come off in person? Hard to see it in a photo. The uplighted J. Maple also looked like a cool idea.

Same as above, Elm is fantastic. What about the mirrors? In photos they are distracting. What was it like "live"?

It was a total distraction IMHO. The multiple images behond the trees made it very difficult to see the details. It was sort of like looking at a bonsai in front of a leafed out tree or bush.

Totally distracting. Of course it won the awards for “Best Display”, because “innovative display” is what this show is all about. It’s NOT about the trees, it’s about “display”.

For me the biggie was seeing more Hinoki bonsai in one place than I have ever seen before! They varied in quality with a coulpe stunning examples with obvious years of careful development. Here are some photos:

For me, the best part was seeing old friends, making new ones, and hanging with other people nutty about bonsai!

There were some nice trees in the show but I would really like to see a pic of that Deshojo. Will you be wiring it up in Kannapolis?
You’re referring to the auction tree I won? That one is mine. Been hunting for one for years with some size 😁. Small trees are cool. Small Japanese maples require minions.

well i have only been to 2 demonstrations so far, yours on Sunday(which I really enjoy your candor) and Tyler Sherrods back in September so auctioning off the tree after is common practice, I assume. I would still hope you could post a progression of the restyling of the Deshojo. If you are hunting for large JM's have you tried the growing grounds in cherryville? I know Mach5 has one on his site, I talked to the owner and he said he is done with bonsai and will be bulldozing his farm at the beginning of spring, I think he said he had 3000 trees for 350 a pop, he also has a bunch of 50+ yr old trees in pots, he is hard to get in touch with though.

wowsers that’s over $1MM worth of material without valuing the old stuff in pots. Hope there’s either a change in course or a proverbial ‘fire’ sale. Live and let live though

did he give a reason as to why he is "done with bonsai"?
at $350 a pop it would be worth it for anybody close by to check out the trees in person....
