That sounds like a festival bonsai folks would have annually right after the winter kills become evident.mainly so I can attend Burnpile next year,

it was one of the best beers I have ever had, Its from a brewer called j wakefield down in Miami. J wakefield is to brewing like John naka was to bonsaiI like beer, but I'm sorry, that sounds gross!
Try Portland for a weekend...Call it what you want... I went to downtown Asheville, and patronage’s several establishments, and they had more d@mn weird beers than I ever thought existed!
I’ve been looking for one for about 15 years..... It will still need five to twenty five years to look nice.Yeah, I want to see that one too. Larger size deshojo are like the grail.
Did anyone have a favorite maple from the Asheville show
Well i will be in kanapolis this year for the winter show and back in asheville in june for the next carolina expo.Man, I happened to be in Asheville visiting family and we attended this. I should have thought to ask around, it would have been nice to meet several of you that I talk to/read your posts. Damn shame.
I'll have to look into the June show. Never been to kanapolis but I'll try to see if I can make that. About a six hour drive for me so not quite next door.Well i will be in kanapolis this year for the winter show and back in asheville in june for the next carolina expo.
Good to know.sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the 2021 NC expo is cancelled again.
is the 2021 ABS show cancelled too?Good to know.
The Atlanta Bonsai Show has been rescheduled for September, I believe. It’s going to be held on a Friday and Saturday this year. Sorry, I don’t remember exactly which days.is the 2021 ABS show cancelled too?
Correction: the Atlanta show is scheduled for October, not September! The Atlanta Bonsai Show has been rescheduled for September, I believe. It’s going to be held on a Friday and Saturday this year. Sorry, I don’t remember exactly which days.
The mirror display was ok; everyone has to remember these are volunteer organizations and not individual displays. I feel pieces of mirror or used in a way that didn’t reflect the room would be better. Too distracting, but you did get to see back or trees.Awesome elm! Some interesting and unusual displays, how did the mirror display come off in person? Hard to see it in a photo. The uplighted J. Maple also looked like a cool idea.
Well... a major theme of the Show has always been “alternative display”.The mirror display was ok; everyone has to remember these are volunteer organizations and not individual displays. Agreed. Every year I’ve been, about 3-4 displays that are novel have aspects that work for me, or whole thing. Arthur asks for non-traditional displays, which I think is great. The trees are nice, but having a neutral or complimentary back drop of any kind brings the focus on the main display elements.Well... a major theme of the Show has always been “alternative display”.
Alternative as in “not Japanese” style.
It’s not that traditional Japanese styled displays are banned, they just won’t win the Award given to the club for their “Best Display”.
