Does anyone else who has aspen have leaf edges yellow this time of year?
The same thing happened last year and the tree is strong, so I’m not too worried.
Just wondering.

I don't keep any aspen but most of my deciduous trees are looking kind of tattered this time of year. I believe the trees are transitioning from foliar growth to vascular growth preparing for autumn, sensing decreased daylight length.

I have one quaking aspen. It’s leaves are showing some brown at the edges. This is my first year with it, so I don’t really know what to think about it. Several of my Japanese maples are showing a bit of leaf scorch at the margins, which is pretty typical for this time of year for the ones that are in sunnier locations. The ones in the shadiest spots don’t show leaf scorch, for the most part. My guess is that something similar may be happening with the aspen.

Yeah, l’m not concerned, just wondering if this is kinda typical for them. Mine is in mostly shade.

One of my landscape aspens had yellow-haloed leaves last year. When the fall color change came, the yellow margins turned brown, while the green centers turned yellow. And it was pretty much every leaf on the tree. This year all the leaves are green and look great. No idea what has made the difference.

Not personally, but I know that this is how Todd collects them. In the fall, and then on a heat bed through the winter until spring. He said that sometimes the tree won’t grow any roots over the winter, but will still leaf out the next spring and produce roots that year.

Thanks for the info. Sounds promising 😎
