This is a Lowes Azalea (I'm still hunting for the tag). I pruned it last year and it needs a hard cut back. But I just noticed an odd branch in the new growth. Super vigorous and it appears that several shoots fused after a split. This is just growth and I didn't bind it in any way. I'm wondering if it is a witches broom from a virus or insect? But I could find no insects. From the close ups, I broke off the end of one shoot. The entire snapped off and I put it in the propagation chamber.

I couldn't find anything similar on the web. Anyone seen this before?

Propagate it and if it stays true to what it looks like now, name it and copy-write(?) it. I'm not a Rhodo/Azalea expert by any means though. It might be fairly common.
