Going to use this to start the progression thread on my root over rock trident. I got a lot of push back on facebook about this combination, but I like it. And that's all that counts!

The tree is nice. The pot is nice. But it's much too large. Why the oversized pot?

Doesn't seem so bad.....a little roomy, so watch how the soil dries. And make sure you wire in the tree well. Looks like you will be dealing with a smaller root ball.
Nice tree, just needs time and a few cuts......enjoy!!

The short answer would be, because I like it. The long answer would be that at some point, I may have to cut off all (or most of) the branches. The trunk is the star, the branching. Not so much. If I decide to cut it all off. I want as much root support as I can have. Oh, and I like it ;)

Then have at it! I like the smaller pot but I see your point. Nice tree!

Joe is that a root over rock or trunk around rock? Neat and a few more pictures would be nice.

Joe, after repotting that also looks great. Guess I just like your tree no matter what pot it is in. Good Job!

Yeah I saw it on Facebook. Very unusual. I love it ;)
The trunk and stone is the star of the show alright. Beautiful combination. Its going to be a stunner in time because of its unusualness...!!!
Thanks for putting it up. Looking forward to the progression updates.

Looking good there! You decide what route you going to do? I lost track of the other thread so I didn't get to keep up with the decision.

Your vert is in my mind. Let's get the base right first. Gonna let it rest and grow a year and work on it next year.

Ah! That one!

And! Facebook, morons.

This pot is less "too big" than the other is "too small".
And your plan works!
