Bald cypress root ball

Hi all!
Over the last couple weeks my bald cypress that is in development has pushed its way out of its pot due to extreme root growth. Should I prune the roots and repot right now? Just repot? How should i handle this?

Get a slightly bigger pot about the same shape out an inch of potting soil in the bottom put the root mass into the pot and backfill completely with potting soil. Should be fine until spring

That's impressive root growth! I've had trident maples do similar too. I just leave them until Spring repotting but if you feel more comfortable slipping it into a bigger pot with some more soil until Spring repot that's fine too.

They are both highly knowledgeable. You're getting the right advice. If unknown you might ask how much of the roots can be removed in the spring.
