I was able to collect this ancient bear berry from a job site two weeks ago. It came out with better roots then I thought it would but I still had to cut back a lot of the green to keep it alive due to our hot weather. I'll let it grow / recover in the shade for a year before I touch it again. That being said, I'd like to hear your thoughts / suggestions on where to go with this. Personally, I'm thinking wind swept look but I'm open to suggestions. Cheers :)

That's nice. Bear berry I believe is in same genus as Manzanita, which is notorious for being difficult to establish as bonsai. So far so good. Hopefully your tree is past the most critical period of getting established. Keep us posted. If it makes it a year, let us know what your secret is.
